Banner:    Mith Productions
Cast:    Dhanush, Ananya, K. Bhagiyaraj, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Sheela, Ilavarasan, Ponvannan
Direction:    Subramaniyam Siva
Production:    Amith Mohan
Music:    Dheena
Release Date : Saturday, February 26, 2011

Director Subramaniam Siva, who touched the dark shades of life in Chennai in his last ‘Yogi’, has treaded a cool and a casual path in ‘Seedan’. A remake of Malayalam entertainer ‘Nandanam’, ‘Seedan’ is a breezy venture which also tells a message or two on human relationships.
With Dhanush doing a cameo, the movie comes as a treat for those who love to watch time-pass popcorn entertainers, that too with whole family. Slow at places, there is no denying that the script is steady too.
A romantic theme never fails to appease masses. If it is blended with a family drama, the delight is double. That is what ‘Seedan’ is all about. Ananya and newcomer Krishna are lover couple and with Dhanush playing the saviour of their affair, it is fun and joy throughout.
Subramanaiam Siva deserves to be complimented for making necessary changes in the script to suit Tamil audience. He has ensured that the grip is not lost anywhere in the story.
Thanks to Dhanush making entry in the second half, the movie picks up momentum to ensure there are no big dull moments anywhere from the interval.
Mahalakshmi (Ananya) is a maid in the huge bangalow of Amirthavalli (Sheela), where she takes good care of the latter. An ardent devotee of Lord Muruga, Maha has a dream of marrying a boy of her choice.
Life takes a turn when Mano (Krishna), Amirthavalli's grandson enters the house for a vacation. Maha is surprised because he is the man who comes in her dream and falls in love with her.
A twist in the tale is Mano’s mother (Suhasini) urging him to marry her friend's daughter. When a shocked Mahalakshmi offers prayers to Lord Muruga, from nowhere enters Saravanan (Dhanush), a new cook in the house. From there on, Mahalakshmi comes across enough pleasant surprises and all things thanks to Saravanan end well.
Three cheers to Ananya who has played her part well. She is at ease in romantic sequences and equally good in emotional scenes. Krishna doesn't seem to be a novice. He plays his part well considering this to be his maiden attempt.
Vivek as fake Godman brings the roof down with laughter. His one-liners are witty and catchy. Refreshing to see the comedian striking it rich after a gap.
And the real scene-stealer is Dhanush. The man, who is on a good run in Kollywood, seems to have carried the burden in his shoulders with immaculate ease and delivered one of his best. As a cook who is witty and humouous, Dhanush is there to entertain.
The likes of Suhasini, Sheela among others show their experience on screen. Dhina has come up with some catchy numbers and the best is ‘Saravana Samayal…’, a classical fusion.
On the whole, ‘Seedan’ is a breezy entertainer. With romance, comedy, sentiments and emotions at right mix, the film is worth a watch. Of course there are some speed breakers, but the ride is safe.

Nanjupuram (2011) - Tamil Movie

Banner:-Ilusionz infinite
Produced:-Preethaa.S
Directed:-Charles
Music:-Raghav
Cast: Bala, Namitha, Kalabhavan Mani, Pavan, Ashish Vidhyarthi, Mahadevan

‘Films can be made with big ideas. Not Big Money’ – Remember the famous quotation marked by Ram Gopal Varma during the release of his ‘Dongala Mutha’. With Tamil film industry going through a rapid change in its course, we have been witnessing films made out photo-cameras and digital filmmaking. ‘Edhuvum Nadakkum’, ‘Sanikkilamai Saayangalam 5 Mani’, ‘Mei Porul’ and many other movies can be regarded as the best illustrations. Though, these films didn’t have a grand opening, it easily grabbed everyone’s attention for its newfangled filmmaking and a commendable work in narration as well.

‘Nanjupuram’ proves nowhere an elision and indeed overshadows the above mentioned movies. Just as the title goes, ‘Nanjupuram’ is about a land situated amidst of thick mountainous forests that is filled with hundreds and thousands of poisonous snakes. Velu (Raghav), an unemployed youngster freaks out across the village and falls in love with Malar (Monica), daughter of a butcher woman in village. Of course, they are so much attracted towards each other and share an intimate relationship. Velu once saves Malar from bitten by a snake by tapping his legs over it. This leaves him in a perplexed situation as the villagers urge him to stay at the top of a makeshift place since they believe that a snake that is hurt but not killed will surely get back to seek revenge. Meanwhile, plans are made by family elders to get Malar married to someone else. Can Velu save himself from the revengeful snake and join hands with his sweetheart Malar? You’ve got to watch them over the screens as they deserve a watch.

Let us get it clear about few things here. First and foremost, ‘Nanjupuram’ doesn’t carry a top-notching visual panorama and don’t expect to the outputs on screens you’ll find in the movies of Manirathnam and  Gautham Menon. It’s a film made with digital cameras and so the resolution becomes slightly lower in few places. But as a filmmaker, Charles has penned an engrossing story that lets us experience some spine-shuddering moments. The first half of the movie is slow and quite mediocre, but as the conflict begins, we tend to notice that there’s something interesting happening there.

Performance by Raghav is splendid and he does his part very well. If the actor manages to get into projects made by A-league filmmakers, he is sure to shine for his earnest dedication and striving efforts for perfection. Monica as usual tries turning on everyone’s interest with her beauty and glam-factors. Musical score by Raghav is okay while songs are somewhat captivating.

On the flip side, the screenplay goes sluggish at few parts and the producers could have shown keen interest on the technical aspects.
‘Nanjupuram’ can be watched for a different experience.

Biography
Sridevi, also known as Sreedevi Ayyapan, was born on August 13, 1965 in Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu. She is an Indian actress who has starred in hundreds of Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films.

Personal
Her parents were Ayyappan, a lawyer, and Rajeswari. Sridevi has a sister, Srilatha, and a brother named Satish. Sridevi's mother is from Andhra Pradesh and her father from Tamil Nadu.

Her father died while she was filming Lamhe, her mother while she was making Judaai. Although it is the Hindu custom that the son lights the funeral pyre, Sridevi lit the pyre for her mother's last rites.

Numerous sources claim that Sridevi had a relationship with actor Mithun Chakraborty from 1986 to 1987, and ended the relationship when she found out that he had not divorced his first wife, Yogita Bali. Many versions of this story say that the couple was secretly married and the marriage was later annulled. It is not clear how much of this story is true and how much is gossip.

Sridevi married film producer Boney Kapoor on June 2, 1996. The couple has two daughters, Jhanvi and Khushi. Through her husband she is related to the large Surinder Kapoor film clan. Actor Anil Kapoor, her co-star in many films, is her brother-in-law.

Career
Sridevi started her career as a child artiste in the Tamil movie Kandhan Karunai (1967). During her early adult career, she acted in a number of Tamil and Malayalam movies. Many of her Malayalam movies were directed by I. V. Sasi. Some examples of her notable Malayalam movies are: Aadhyapaadam, Aalinganam, Kuttavum Sikshaiyum, Aa Nimisham. In 1976, she got her first big break in Tamil movies as a heroine in K. Balachander's Moondru Mudichu, where she starred opposite both Kamal Haasan and Rajnikanth. In many ways, this movie was a landmark in Tamil filmdom. It was also one of Rajnikanth's first major movies. After Moondru Mudichu, Sridevi had a succession of huge hits with both these Tamil superstars. With Kamal Haasan, she acted in movies such as Guru, Sankarlal,Sigappu Rojakkal,Thaayillamal Naanillai, Meendum Kokila, Vaazhve Maayam, Varumaiyin Niram Sigappu, Neela Malargal,Moondram Pirai,16 Vayathinile. With Rajnikanth, she acted in movies such as Dharmayuddham, Priya, Pokkiri Raja, Thanikattu Raja, Adutha Varisu, Nan Adimai Illai, etc. She was the number one actress in Tamil films during the period 1979-83.

During the same time, Sridevi also made inroads into Telugu language movies. She acted with all major heroes in Telugu. A number of her Telugu movies were made by K. Raghavendra Rao. With N. T. Rama Rao, she acted in movies such as Konda Veeti Simham, Vetagadu, Sardar Paparayudu, Bobbili Puli etc. With A. Nageswara Rao, she acted in movies such as Mudulla Koduku, Premabhishekham, Bangaru Kanku, Premakanuka etc. With Krishna she acted in movies such as Kanchu Kagada, Kalavari Samsaram, Krishnavatharam, Borripellum Bolludu, Khaidi Rudrayya etc. After Kamal Haasan, Sridevi has acted the most number of movies with Krishna. Towards the tail end of her Telugu career, she started acting in Hindi movies. Many of her initial Hindi movies starred Jeetendra and were remakes of her Telugu movies, mostly directed by K. Raghavendra Rao, and K. Bappaiah. She has won two Filmfare Awards for Best Actress for Meendum Kokila and Kshana Kshanam.

In 1978, she starred in her first Hindi film, Solva Saawan which failed at the box office. However, her second movie, Himmatwala, went on to be a super-duper success. Sridevi became a Bollywood star overnight and the film earned her the sexy nickname "Thunder Thighs". This was followed by the masterpiece Sadma which is hailed as a classic today and remains the most definitive child-woman performance of her career. Throughout the 1980s, she starred in a galaxy of superhit films including Tohfa, Nagina, Mr. India, Chandni, and Chaalbaaz, in which her delightfully crazy capers won her the first Filmfare Award for Hindi films. Sridevi became the No.1 star and the highest paid actor during this time. Nagina is remembered for her iconic dance sequence in the film's climax. Shekhar Kapur's all-time hit Mr. India won her rave reviews for her classic comic-timing and earned her the name Miss Hawa Hawai while her Charlie Chaplin act in the film remains an unforgettable moment. Yash Chopra's poetic fairy-tale Chandni proved to be the most spectacular hit of the Queen Bee's career. Yash Chopra again directed her in the path-breaking modern day classic Lamhe (1991), where the sensitive and intense double-role act immortalised her forever in Hindi Cinema. It also won her, her second Filmfare Best Actress Award and also the prestigiousInternational Best Actress Award. The superstar ruled on with powerful performances like Khuda Gawah, Gumrah and Laadla wowing the audiences. She was even approached by the Hollywood legend Steven Spielberg for a role which she had to refuse due to her workload in India. She remained the Number One for more than a decade which is the perhaps longest reign for any Hindi actress. She is one of the few Bollywood actresses who dictated terms and for whom roles were written. The failure of the multicrore Roop ki Rani Choron ka Raja proved to be a major setback. After the superhit Judaai (1997), she left the industry in order to marry Boney Kapoor and raise her two daughters, Jhanvi and Khushi.

After a six-year hiatus, Sridevi returned to the small screen, briefly, in the popular Sahara sitcom Malini Iyer (2004-2005). She also appeared on Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai for Karishma Kapoor (2004) and as a judge in the TV show Kaboom (2005). She also starred in the Lux ad along with Shah Rukh Khan. She is slated to return to the big screen in a sequel to Mr India.

She is a member of the Board of Directors at the Asian Academy of film and television.

She performed an 80's medley at the 52nd Filmfare Awards on February 24th, 2007 to a grand reception from fans and colleagues.

Ponnar Shankar (2011) Tamil Movie

Production: Thyagarajan
Direction: Thyagarajan
Music: Ilayaraja
Star-casts: Prashanth, Pooja Chopra, Divya Parameswaran, Prakash Raj, Sneha and others

As a father, Thyagarajan might have conceptualized the idea of making ‘Ponnar Shankar’ so as to elevate his son Prashanth’s career in Tamil film industry that has been under a deplorable condition for a long time. But as a producer he should have got it clear that whether a film made a whooping amount on his son will fetch him profits. To be precise, Prashanth doesn’t boast of a bigger market as even a B-league actor. Let’s leave apart the ‘trade values’, but even when considered as a film, it doesn’t cater to the tastes of any centre of audiences. ‘Ponnar Shankar’ looks like a spoof played on several period war films.

It’s really confusing to see so many characters in the films based on the story of Kalaingar Karunanidhi. And what’s annoying the most is that most of the actors appear for namesake and are unable to give a meaningful performance. ‘Ponnar Shankar’ has dozens of actors making their surprising appearance and yet remains unspectacular.

The film proves nowhere different as it borrows storyline from various movies from the ancient times. Love story between the cousin boy-and-girl and the family feuds standing as a barrier has been the heart and soul of several love stories. Well, ‘Ponnar Shankar’ belongs to this category and it proves nowhere ne plus ultra in both narrative and technical contexts.

The story centers on twin brothers Ponnar & Shankar (both roles played by Prashanth) known as saviors of the poor and needy. Their good-heartedness wins them the favor of people all over the region. While they try saving two sisters (Pooja Chopra and Divya Parameswaran) from a dangerous situation, love blossoms between the duos. When it’s time for nuptials, an ultimate twist comes through a flashback as we get to know that the lovers are none other than close cousins. It brings numerous characters into the tale involving the conflict that happened between the families.

Prashanth tries to evoke a thundering performance here and there, but he lacks the masculinity, which is excessively needed for such character. But, he is quite okay over few scenes, but it irks us heavily with the stunt sequences that looks so odd. First and foremost, the complete film lacks the touch of what a period film should look like. It looks like a staged high school play, Sorry to say! It’s not an intended statement, but a fact.  Pooja Chopra and Divya Parameswaran lack the adeptness badly while Sneha as Prashanth’s sister makes an impressive performance. Kushboo on her part has done what is required for the role. The graphic work is so amateurish while the musical score by Ilayaraja is commendable at parts. Cinematography requires special mention while editing is done with neatness.

The second half of the film becomes too horrible and it urges for a second thought of walking out of theatres. Prakash Raj sleepwalks through the negative character and there’s nothing special about him.

On the whole, ‘Ponnar Shankar’ doesn’t exceed our expectations or even do justice to the audiences’ interests. Instead, it turns out to be a ridiculous drama that offers laughs and annoyances in parts.

Mappillai is a remake of the rajinikanth blockbuster with the same name. Though the new mappillai has a good star cast, it is a mere shadow of the original.

Directed by suraj the film has danush playing the lead, hansika motwani plays his love interest. The rest of the cast includes manisha koirala, ashish vidyarthy, vivek, satyan, raja and others. Produced by Nemichand Jhabak and Hitesh Jhabak, mappillai has music by Mani Sharma, Editing by Kishore and Cinematography by Sathish Kumar SR.

A lot of changes have been made in the script yet nothing much could be done to make it as interesting as the original one. Vivek’s comedy hardly makes us laugh anywhere. There are a lot of continuity mistakes in the film. There is hardly logic anywhere in the film. Music is bearable. There is no scope for acting for anyone in the film. Hansika could have chosen a better script for her debut in tamil.

One can watch the film for danush’s sake. After adukalam something better was expected from him. Story: Hanshika falls in love with danush after he save her life. At first danush portrays himself as a very good chap. Believing that manisha koirala accepts for their marriage. Later she comes to know that he is a total jerk. She tries to stop the marriage but they get married. After that manisha koirala tries to separate hansika and danush and what happens next is for you to watch.

2011. Do you think Robert will have better chemistry on-screen with Reese Witherspoon than he does with Kristen Stewart? As a young man, Jacob Jankowski (Robert Pattinson) fatefully encounters a traveling circus just before receiving his veterinary degree.  After his parents die, he abandons his studies and joins the circus, meeting Marlena (Reese Witherspoon), August (Christopher Waltz), and Rosie the elephant.
“When Jacob Jankowski, recently orphaned and suddenly adrift, jumps onto a passing train, he enters a world of freaks, drifters, and misfits, a second-rate circus struggling to survive during the Great Depression, making one-night stands in town after endless town. A veterinary student who almost earned his degree, Jacob is put in charge of caring for the circus menagerie. It is there that he meets Marlena, the beautiful young star of the equestrian act, who is married to August, the charismatic but twisted animal trainer. He also meets Rosie, an elephant who seems untrainable until he discovers a way to reach her. Water for Elephants is illuminated by a wonderful sense of time and place. It tells a story of a love between two people that overcomes incredible odds in a world in which even love is a luxury that few can afford.”

He then tells him that he can get him into the US college where his girlfriend is going to be, but there only one condition. To do that he will have to smuggle a few packets of cocaine along with him. At first he disagrees but then he finally agrees and gets cocaine sealed in his bags. At the airport he successfully passes the X-ray machine and is all set to leave.

The story then revolves back a few years and introduces us to ACP Vishnu Kamath (Abhishek Bachchan). Kamath is a corrupt cop who accepts a lot of bribes in order to satisfy his family. But one day it turns out that life takes revenge from him and his family dies in a car accident. Then back to the present year, he is offered a job by the Chief Minister of Goa. The job is to flush out all the drug gangsters in Goa. He accepts the job and forms a team who helps him with the case. According to Goa Police Department, the drug supply in Goa is distributed in four parts. One is the Russian Drug Mafia, the other is Nigerian, then English and the final one is the local people of Goa. First they attack the Russian Region, then carry on with Nigeria and England and the local. This leads to a panic among the drug suppliers and as a result Rave Parties are cancelled and the drug supply comes to a halt. The drug dealers gather for a meeting lead by Zoey (Bipasha Basu). Zoey guarantees them that their drugs will be in safe hands, if they give them away to a person named Michael Barbosa, a person who has no identity and moves like a shadow and has helped them out for ages. All of the Drug dealers agree with Zoey. This frustrates Kamath as he is unable to get to the drugs. So he decides to chase Michael Barbosa in order to get the drugs. He finds out Via his sources about of the drug dealer named Ricky. Ricky is all set with Lorry to smuggle drugs to USA, but when Kamath reaches out for Ricky, he is already dead. Kamath and his cops check out Ricky's apartment where they find out about him smuggling cocaine to USA, they also find out about his Live-in girlfriend named Rozanna who is from Brazil and once used to see Lorry. So with all this information they reach the Goa International Airport on the same day when Lorry is about to leave. At the airport Kamath encounters Rozanna, Ricky's girlfriend and identifies her as she had been wearing the same kind of a bra that they previously found in Ricky's apartment. The Cops detain Rozanna and check her mobile phone. Kamath finds out a photo of Lorry in Rozanna. She is allowed to go after she is found innocent. Later, when Kamath and his cops are searching the airport for the drug dealer, Kamath identifies Lorry as the person he had seen in Rozanna's phone. They then detain him and on searching his luggage they find out 2kg out cocaine stuffed in his bag.

Later, Lorry is sent to Juvenile House where he becomes shy and looses faith in himself. Meanwhile Lorry's friend, DJ Joki (Rana Daggubati) tries to get him out. It is then revealed that Zoey and Joki used to date each other long time. Zoey was interested in being an air hostess but fails. So Joki introduces her to his boss Lorsa Biscuta a.k.a. the Biscuit (Aditya Pancholi), who the is the boss of Drug dealing in Goa and has worldwide contacts. With the help of his contacts Biscuit gets her an international job in airlines. But she has to pay a price for this. Zoey will have to smuggle Cocaine to international regions five times. Unfortunately Zoey ends up being caught with 80 Lakhs of cocaine in her luggage and get punished for 14 years in jail. But Biscuit's contact gets her free in 14 days and for that she has to sleep with Biscuit. She then moves on breaking up with Joki and leads her life into drug dealing along with Biscuit. Meanwhile, Kamath carries on with the investigation on who is Michael Barbosa. It takes him to ship where he fights all the gangsters but misses out on Barbosa. This leads him no where.

Sometime later Joki unexpectedly meets Zoey. He asks Zoey to help him out with Lorry. He tries his best to get Barbosa but fails. Zoey at first denies him and asks him to leave but finally Joki convinces her and they both end up sleeping together. Zoey helps him out by giving him a video recording of Biscuit announcing that he is going to throw a huge party in some jungle of Karnataka and at that party Michael Barbosa will be bringing all the drugs which he had with him and will be exchanged at the party. Joki gives this tape to ACP Kamath. Meanwhile, when Biscuit comes to know about the on going relationship between Zoey and Joki, he gets so furious that he kills her. Kamath gets his troops ready but in order to identify Barbosa he needs somebody's help and that somebody will be Lorry. He goes to Juvenile House and asks Lorry about Barbosa. Lorry is scared to answer and this fear makes matters much worse. So Kamath asks him to write down everything even the smallest of the small details about how he was trapped by Ricky into Drug smuggling, and with the help of that he will figure out who Michael Barbosa is. Kamath gets Lorry's Letter and then he attacks Biscuits party in Karnataka. He quickly reads out Lorry's letter and comes to the final conclusion of the entire Drug Racket. After arresting the Drug dealers and the gangsters. While returning back, Kamath's team mate asks him about Barbosa, he gives him lorry's letter and tells him Barbosa exists in that very letter. Kamath's team mate after reading the letter understands and asks for forgiveness. He then fires his gun and kills Kamath. It is then revealed that his teammate was always involved with Biscuit and the whole story fits in place. But still Michael Barbosa is the missing link. Later Joki finds out about Kamath's death and arrives at the crime scene. He finds a postcard next to Kamath's body. Joki then goes to the graveyard where Zoey was cremated and all of a sudden it clicks and he solves the entire mystery. He notices a grave named 'Micheal Barbosa'. Then he remembers Kamath telling him about Barbosa already being dead. He realizes that Barbosa is just a dead name used for channelising the supply of drugs and misleading the cops. He goes there and opens the grave and finds packets of cocaine, heroine and other drugs. he then calls up Biscuit and says that if he wants his drugs back then he will have to clear all the records of his and Lorry's. Later he calls up Kamath's killer and team mate and asks him to come with him to a spot where he has hid all the packets of drugs. Joki takes him to the same place where Kamath was murdered and kills him there too. He says that he came to know about him because of Kamath's postcard where Kamath had written his name in order for Joki to complete his mission. Joki burns the drugs along with Kamath's body in Biscuit's crematorium. And, in the end Biscuit is killed by a girl who he is sleeping with.
