Sumanth hasn't had a hit in a while and he was desperately banking upon 'Daggaraga Dooramga' (DD),but unfortunately there is no way this film could satisfy him. DD falls flat, shattering all expectations the actor's fans pinned against it.
Centered around an ad filmmaker, aspiring model and an investigative journalist lives, DD narrates the story of Gautham (Sumanth), the filmmaker, who creates an imaginary model for one of his ad films. That imaginary model happens to be Meenakshi (Vedika), whose engagement apparently gets cancelled because of the ad film.
She lands in Hyderabad in search of Gautham, to take strict action against his ad agency. She ropes in her best friend Zaleen (Sindu Tolani), an investigative journalist to help her nail Gautham. Zaleen simultaneously is secretly working on story that will expose some dreadful terrorist actions to the public. In this event, Zaleen gets killed by the terrorists and she hands over a DVD to Meenakshi, containing
detailed information about few terrorists.
Gautham accompanies Meenakshi, as they run for their lives from the terrorists. What happens to them forms the rest of the story.
Only if I were the producer I would've smartly bailed out and looked out to invest in some other film. What begins as a romantic film, somewhere in the middle turns into a film wherein one character wants to take revenge on the other and later on in to a thriller (as depicted in the film). The director could've rather made it into a romantic film instead of complicating it by introducing unnecessary characters.
It looked to me as if this film was made to bring back Sumanth from the dead. After a series of duds, he slipped into oblivion and couldn't make his way out irrespective of trying hard. He called out to someone, requested him to come and draw him out. Although, Ravi Kumar Chavali- The director managed to draw him out, but in the effort now he seem to have pushed him deeper into the belly of mother earth.
The film was inundated with several loopholes and the director seems to have totally ignored them. The screenplay was fragile and one could underline it as a reason to the film's failure. Neither half of the films managed to keep the audience hooked to their seats. Every passing minute was like a torture and mostly it appeared as if we paid to get tortured. Thanks to some comedy by Krishna Bhagwan, the audience held on to their seats.
Performances were only mediocre and nothing beyond that. Biggest disappointment was Sumanth, who after a breathtaking (Chak De type) performance in "Golconda High School" decided to take up to such an uninspiring film that has no heart at all. Rest of the cast was normal in their respective roles.
In a nutshell, Daggaraga Dooramga is an outcome of silly direction, uninspiring script and lazy screenplay.
